Chinese Ambassador hails volunteers' contribution in cultural promotion

Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Pan Guangxue on Friday spoke highly on Chinese language volunteers' contribution in Cambodia, hailing them as ambassadors of Chinese culture and language in Cambodia.

Speaking to the third tranche of Chinese volunteers in China's embassy, Pan said he appreciates the volunteers' contribution in spreading Chinese culture and teaching Chinese language, which enhances the people-to-people exchanges between the two peoples.

Also, Pan briefly introduced Cambodia's culture and society to the new comers, as well as the bilateral ties between the China and Cambodia in the fields of diplomacy, economy and cultural exchanges.

Pan said 2012 functions as a milestone year in the history of China-Cambodia friendship as many Chinese high-ranking officials had paid successful visits in the past months, including Chinese president Hu Jintao, senior party leader He Guoqiang, as well as other ministerial leaders.

Pan encourages the newly arrived volunteers to further promote Chinese language and culture to the Cambodian natives during their one-year service and elevate the Chinese exposure to the local people.

The new tranche of 73 Chinese had arrived at the capital of Phnom Penh on Friday's early morning with the age range from 22 to 33.

Most of them are graduates from Chinese leading universities. They will be working in Chinese schools in different Cambodian provinces for at least one year.
