FINANCIAL NEWS:

THOI BAO KINH TE VIETNAM

-- State-run Petrolimex, the country's largest oil product distributor by market share, will auction more than 27.4 million shares on July 28 in an initial public offering at a starting price of 15,000 dong ($0.73) per share.

LAO DONG

-- Two Hanoi-based banks and six banks in Ho Chi Minh City failed to cut loans for non-manufacturing purposes to 22 percent of their total credit by June 30, the central bank said.

-- Dong deposit rates have risen to an average 15.15 percent now, up 3 percentage points from the end of 2010, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Nguyen Van Binh said.

ECONOMIC AND GENERAL NEWS:

LAO DONG

-- A total of 55 new cement plants, with a combined capacity of 66.96 million tonnes, will start operation next year, the Construction Ministry said.

THANH NIEN

-- Two people were killed and three others were missing in landslides triggered by heavy rain late on June 29 in the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau, the provincial disaster management unit said.

-- Vietnam's gold re-exports in June totalled $630 million, bringing the total export revenue for the precious metal in the first six months of this year to more than $1 billion, helping to narrow the country's trade deficit thanks to domestic prices being lower than global prices.
