VIETNAM has opened a new international airport in the southern Mekong Delta, state media reports.
The $US150 million ($A148 million) Can Tho International Airport, built on 20,750 square metres of land, will process up to five million passengers a year, Vietnam News Agency reported on Sunday.
The airport is expected to be a significant boost to the Mekong Delta's economy, as well as improving defence, security and international integration, the agency said.
