Suthep: Temple protesters face arrest

Bangkok Post

Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban has again warned the Thailand Patriot Network not to rally at Government House, because they could be arrested.

The group, led by People's Alliance for Democracy leaders Chamlong Srimuang and Veera Somkwamkid, plan to rally there tomorrow, demanding that a year 2000 border agreement with Cambodia be revoked.

"If they come, they will be arrested," Mr Suthep said on Friday.

Their representatives can submit their demand to him or to Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, he said.

He said there should be no rally, regardless of the intentions behind it, because the political situation has only recently returned to normal.

He also said that there was no reinforcement of troops along the Thai-Cambodian border, but the army was ready to protect Thailand's sovereignty if necessary.
