A group of demonstrators led the Network of Thai Patriots had dispersed in front of the Army Region 1 headquarters on Sunday afternoon. They rallied to pressure the government over the territorial dispute with Cambodia.

"Our rally has ended but it is temporary. We'll return when we're more ready," network's secretary-general Chaiwat Sinsuwong said.

The number of demonstrators was not sufficient as they had to gather in front of the Army Region 1 headquarters and at the Thai-Japanese Stadium. The network will discuss ways to tackle this problem, he said.

Mr Chaiwat, who is a co-leader of the yellow-shirt People's Alliance for Democracy, said the live telecast debate on the Thai-Cambodian border row was a success as it was the first time the public sector could present different problems to the government without trying to gain benefits for anyone in particular.
