Ethics looks at priest, Cambodia

08/05/2010

Here's the lineup for next week's "Religion and Ethics Newsweekly" program, to run at 1 a.m. Tuesday on KTSC-TV.

- “The Priest and the People” — Correspondent Judy Valente reports on the challenges of a Roman Catholic parish priest in Chicago, Father Pat Lee, who ministers to parishioners who love their parish but who often at the same time ignore or disagree with the church's teachings on matters such as birth control, homosexuality, abortion and divorce.

- “Cambodian Children’s Fund” — Seven years ago, while backpacking as a tourist in Cambodia, Scott Neeson saw the suffering and tragedy of the poorest of the poor children and wanted to help. Neeson gave up his lucrative job as a president of a large entertainment corporation to create the Cambodian Children’s Fund, a nonprofit organization in Phnom Penh that helps children get an education, food and shelter.
