Vietnamese miner to export 400,000 tons of iron ore to China

Hoang Anh Gia Lai JSC, a Vietnam-based miner, on Friday said that it signed a contract to export 400,000 tons of iron ore to China this year, sources reported.

The company said in a statement filed with the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange that the iron ore will be produced at the company's mine in Laos. The mine has a proven iron ore reserve of over 20 million tons.

Hoang Anh Gia Lai JSC said that it plans to export 1 million tons of iron ore in 2011 and 1.5 million tons in 2012. Most will be sold to China.

The company also owns an iron ore mine in Cambodia with an estimated reserve of over 30 million tons, according to the statement.
