HCM CITY: Female TV personalities from across Southeast Asia will compete in the final round of the Duyen Dang Truyen Hinh (Charming Television) ASEAN contest today in HCM City.

Sixteen participants from Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Brunei, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore and host country Viet Nam will model the traditional costumes of ASEAN countries tonight.

The contestants, including editors, MCs, reporters and performers from TV stations in ASEAN countries, will perform in traditional ao dai (Vietnamese dresses) and Western-style evening gowns at the second and last show on Friday and next Monday.

They will also take part in a talent competition during the contest.

The three shows will be held at the HCM City Television (HTV) Theatre and broadcast live on HTV 9.

All the contestants will visit the city's famous historic sites like Reunification Palace and Ben Thanh Market.

Ten five-minute clips about the competitors' activities and the contest's preparations are being broadcast on HTV7 between March 14 and 23.

The Duyen Dang Truyen Hinh ASEAN contest, organised by HCM Television and the Cat Tien Sa Company, is expected to help female candidates in Southeast Asia meet and exchange experiences and promote understanding among ASEAN countries.
