HA NOI — Viet Nam beat the Philippines 4-1 on Sunday to qualify for the semi-finals of the Asian Futsal Championship 2010 ASEAN zone, held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Earlier, Viet Nam defeated Cambodia 12-2 in the first Group B match.
Viet Nam are expected to reach the regional final and qualify for one of the region's three tickets to the Asian Futsal Championship finals.
Also in Group B, Malaysia overcame Cambodia and the Philippines to get the same point at six with Viet Nam and will meet Viet Nam in the semi-finals. They competed for the group's first place in a late match yesterday.
The seven participating ASEAN countries were divided into two qualifying groups.
In Group A, Australia and Indonesia have secured places in the semi-finals, while Myanmar have been eliminated after two losses.
The three qualifiers from the ASEAN zone will appear in the Championship finals next May 23-30 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. — VNS
