Amata Corporation, a leading regional industrial estate business, plans to expand its operation in Vietnam and neighbouring countries to minimise risks in Thailand.

Viboon Kromadit, an Amata official, said that the corporation plans to establish offices in Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos. Myanmar is a potential market as it is near India and also has abundant materials and a cheap work force, he added.

Amata is seeking contracts to hire more land in Vietnam because it currently has only 100ha of land on which to operate.

Amata has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Thai Ministry of Science and Technology to work with eight leading Thai universities and institutes to develop an “Amata scientific zone” in Chon Buri province, about 100km from Bangkok to improve its competitive edge in Thailand.
