Cambodia released spy Sivarak Chutipong, who was sentenced to seven years in prison for spying, said the first person he would like to meet after arriving in Bangkok on Monday evening is Kamrob Palawatwichai, the diplomat who asked him for fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra's flight information.

"I want to ask Mr Kamrob the reason he wanted me to find the information [on Thaksin's flight]," Mr Sivarak said.

He insisted his case was not politically motivated, as many sides claimed.

"How can they think of that? Throughout the 32 days in Prey Sar prison, I had not slept one night and I was not happy because everything had changed," he said.

Mr Sivarak is expected to arrive in Bangkok at 4.55pm.

However, Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya's secretary Chavanond Intarakomalyasut said, Mr Sivarak had never stated that he handed any documents regarding Thaksin's flight schedule to the Thai authority.

"I don't think that there's no secret here. In this case, we were only inquiring about [Thaksin's flight information]," Mr Chavanond said.

"Mr Sivarak has the right to hold a press conference and if the things he say are factual there would be no problems and there's nothing to hide."

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva called on all sides to stop magnifying the Thai spy case following his release.

"I believe Mr Sivarak does not want the case to cause more problems," Mr Abhisit said. "I would like this problem to conclude now."

However, he said, the opposition can raise this issue at the possible no-confidence motion because all cabinet members would be ready to give explanations

He insisted his government had never attempted to steal Cambodia's confidential information.

All the problems surrounding Mr Sivarak's case did not cause by the Thai government, he said.

On Cambodia's assertion that it will not extradite Thaksin, the prime minister said relevant units will consider the next step but the Thai-Cambodia relations would remain unchanged.

"The government is willing to improve the ties between the two countries and send the Thai ambassador back to Phnom Penh," he said.
