The Puea Thai Party should not play political games by taking the country as a hostage and must stop dividing people in the country, Democrat Party executive Satit Pitutacha said on Sunday.

Mr Satit also called on the opposition party to stop criticising the government using false information.

"If the Puea Thai Party follow these calls, it can be a big and prominent party," he said.

Democrat spokesman Thepthai Senpong said he believed the Puea Thai MPs, who will travel to Phnom Penh to meet convicted Thai spy Sivarak Chutipong, were just presenting themselves to fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

On the Puea Thai's plan to file a no-confidence motion against the cabinet, Mr Thepthai said the government was not afraid and was ready all the time.

"I see the Puea Thai Party as a party without a head since it lives in Dubai," Mr Thepthai said.

Meanwhile Puea Thai spokesman Prompong Nopparit demanded Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to quickly restore the Thai-Cambodian relations after Mr Sivarak returned to Thailand.

"This would be a good start for the government to restore its diplomatic ties with Cambodia for the best interests of both countries because the Thai-Cambodian trade value is almost 70 billion baht," Mr Prompong said.

Thailand's annual exports to Cambodia total approximately 60 billion baht in value. Cambodia export only three billion baht of its goods and services to Thailand.

"Mr Abhisit, as the government leader, should consider the country's interest first and should show leadership instead of using his feelings to run the country," the opposition spokesman said.
