Vietnamese veterans who came to the aid of Cambodia over two decades ago as experts and volunteer soldiers met representatives of the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association in Hanoi on November 4.

The event was hosted by the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association, the Military-run Telecommunication Corporation, Viettel, and the Cambodian embassy in Vietnam.

President of the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association Men Sam On, who is also Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia and currently on a Vietnam visit, expressed her gratitude toward Vietnam, and especially the volunteers, for helping Cambodia escape from the Pol Pot’s genocidal regime.

She pledged to do her best to preserve and further foster solidarity and friendship between the two nations.

Meanwhile President of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association Vu Mao and a contingent of Vietnamese veteran volunteers expressed hope that Men Sam On’s visit would usher in a new era in relations between the two friendship associations and further boost the traditional friendship between the two countries.

Viettel Vice Director General Duong Van Tinh pledged that his company will work harder to contribute to Cambodia’s efforts to achieve prosperity and to maintaining and developing the two countries’ traditional ties. (VNA)
