Fatherland Front convenes 7th National Congress

The seventh National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) will convene on September 28 with a view to enhancing the role of the VFF, building on democracy, strengthen social consensus, and construct a great unity bloc for the sake of a prosperous people, a strong country and an equitable and civilized society.

The three-day event will be attended by 1,300 delegates, comprising 989 official members and 311 guests. Of these, 41 will be overseas Vietnamese, said the Standing committee of the VFF in Hanoi on September 15.

There will be 262 delegates from the ethnic communities, 160 delegates who are religious followers, 278 female delegates and 479 non-Party delegates.

The oldest delegate will be Veneral Thich Pho Tue (92) from the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, while the youngest will be Vu Thi Xua (19), an ethnic minority delegate from the northern mountain province of Ha Giang.

The congress will also be attended by 4 delegations from China, Laos, Cambodia and Cuba.
