Siam Cement to advance plans for delayed petrochemical complex in Vietnam

26-8-2009

Leading Thai industrial conglomerate - Siam Cement PCL plans to move forward its plans to build a petrochemical complex in Vietnam.

Vietnamese state oil group Petrovietnam and Siam Cement began construction of the joint-venture complex last year in the southern province of O-Kab (Ba Rai Vung Tao).

The project, when planned, required an investment of about US$3-4 bln and was delayed by the global economic crisis. As sentiments and demand in the sector perk up and financial markets improve, making finance availability easier, the Thai major has decided to push the project forward.
