Since its establishment 13 years ago, People’s Travel, a subsidiary of People’s Bank, has been running with a profit and providing satisfactory service to many people. The organization is an agent for all airlines and is IATA associated. People’s Travel provides good rates, excellent service and they are 100% reliable.

The most popular destination for Sri Lankan’s is Dambadiva in India, where many people go to visit the birth place of Lord Buddha. Other popular destinations include Bangkok, China, Egypt, Singapore, and Malaysia with Cambodia and Vietnam becoming progressively more popular. Tours are all inclusive and are usually two weeks long accommodating no more than 35 people to ensure a more exclusive trip. Both leisure and more educational tours are catered for. The educational trips are usually personally canvassed by the staff at People’s Travel in order to attract the right type of people for the special tours.

The educational trips are organized to provide people with new information and new ideas in their particular area of business. Seeing how other countries run and carry out business can be very insightful and people can learn a lot from these trips. All tours are accompanied by a People’s Travel representative and a local guide and motivational addresses and information sessions provide additional knowledge on the educational tours.

People’s Travel is upping its competitiveness through a new project in which all members of staff are being taught Tamil. As Vasantha De Silva, CEO of People’s Bank said, this new venture is both for attracting a Tamil market as well as creating a "communal harmony" in the country and offering a better service that includes the Tamil population. People’s Travel are planning to open two more branches over the next few months, one in Wellawatta and one in Jaffna in order to cater for all Sri Lanka’s.

The busiest times for tours are during the school holidays in August, December and April. These leisure tours have fixed itineraries and are full of activities, there is something for everyone.
