Vietnam, Lao, Cambodia boost cooperation in auditing sector

The importance of auditing State financial and monetary management was emphasised by the National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong when receiving Lao and Cambodia State audit delegations in Hanoi on June 2.

Mr Trong welcomed the Lao delegation, led by the President of the State Audit Organisation, Dr. Bouasy Lovanxay, and the Cambodian delegation led by Seng Ronn, Deputy Auditor General of the National Audit Authority.

Both were in the capital city to attend an international workshop on the role of the supreme audit institutions in enhancing the effectiveness of public expenditure.

NA Chairman Trong said the visits were a good chance for the three audit agencies to exchange experience and boost cooperation, which would help strengthen friendly and traditional relations among the countries.

He spoke highly of the outcome of a trilateral forum and the signing of a memorandum of understanding on promoting cooperation among the State audit agencies.

He said auditing was a crucial tool in ensuring effective public expenditure management and combating corruption and waste.

Mr Trong said because State audit agencies hold major responsibilities to State and the people, they need to build teams of up-right and professional staff.

He hoped the audit bodies would work closely for the benefit of national development in each country.
